Reliable Route to the San Ysidro Ready Lane Entrance

The following map and video depict a longer way to get to the entrance of the Ready Lanes. We feel it should generally be reliable even in heavy traffic times such as at the end of a long weekend. Please note that in peak travel periods such as the holiday season, the Ready Lane line can extend much further past where you join the line in this video.

How To Safely Navigate Using Google/Waze/Apple
While we don't recommend using your navigation app to navigate directly from your start point to your destination across the border, we do recommend following this two step method to navigate to the end of the Ready Lane line using waypoints.
  • Step 1
Navigate to the San Ysidro Ready Lane Turn [https://maps.app.goo.gl/6ekDdNoQG8b9Kd1A7]. It does not matter how Google navigates you there, what is important is that you begin the route to the Ready Lane Entrance from this turn. Starting at this turn should reliably direct you to the end of the Ready Lane line most of the time and avoid any issues with entering the line where you shouldn't.

  • Step 2
Once you reach the turn you will then navigate to the Ready Lane Entry Point [https://maps.app.goo.gl/wPnpeaVkYgPg4oox7]. This should take you along the Via Rapida West Bound. Follow your map from there and Google should take you to the Ready Lane Entry Point. Consult our map below to confirm that Google is navigating you along the same route. If it takes you a different way, it could be to an entrance prohibited by Tijuana transit officials. TIP: Do not advance ahead of the line in the far left or far right lanes of the Via Rapida as these will not take you to the Ready Lane Entry Point and you will not be able to merge back into the line

Additionally, we highly suggest you watch the video below which follows the route described here and provides terrific visual cues for navigating to the Ready Lane turn and on to the Ready Lane Entry Point.

Route in Google Maps

The following map depicts the route described in the instructions above. Your starting point will be different from the starting point (A) depicted in the map, use your app to navigate to points (B - Ready Lane Turn on Blvd Las Americas) and (C - Ready Lane Entry Point).

Shorter Route to the San Ysidro Ready Lane Entrance

Here is a shorter route to the San Ysidro Ready Lane, that is not shown in the video. Please be advised that if you attempt to take this shorter route when there are longer wait times, you may be redirected by traffic officers to get the back of the line. This can be very confusing for a lot of border crossers, which is why we recommend the longer route above to less-experienced border crossers.
