When is a driver’s license policy a good option to choose?

Generally, driver’s license policies are convenient if you are not concerned about having coverage for collision or theft. They offer the freedom to drive different eligible vehicles without having to buy a separate liability-only policy for each vehicle.

Many clients who choose this policy drive older vehicles or vehicles that are paid off.

What are eligible and ineligible vehicles?

Eligible vehicles are U.S., Canadian and other non-Mexican:

Autos
Pickups
SUVs
Vans
Motorhomes
Motorcycles
ATVs/UTVs and buggies

Ineligible vehicles:

Mexican plated vehicles (including rental cars from Mexico)
Commercial vehicles
Buses

What if other drivers drive my vehicle who are not listed on my policy?

A drivers license policy only covers the drivers specifically listed on the policy. If you allow other family members or friends to drive who are not listed, they will not be covered.

Please call us if you would like to add a new driver to a current policy. Generally we are able to make one change per policy. Note that we are not able to remove and/or add new drivers on a temporary basis. We are able to make long term changes to driver's license policies.

Why aren't medical payments covered if I drive a motorcycle, ATV, UTV or buggy?

At this time, our insurance companies do not offer medical payments on high risk vehicles such as ATVs, UTVs, buggies or motorcycles. We recommend checking with your U.S. or Canadian medical insurance provider to see if your coverage extends into Mexico. If not, you may be able to purchase temporary international medical coverage.

How much do driver’s license policies cost?
