Baja Zipline Fun - Pikin Parque de Altura

By Kyle Hargrave

Pikin Parque zipline

In an attempt to calm my rattling nerves, I fill my lungs with the fresh summer ocean breeze. The view of the Pacific from the perch is breathtaking - which further frustrates my deep breathing exercises. With the confident guide urging the group forward and with toes hanging off the edge of the platform, one has no other option, except to jump...

Soaring through the air, the ground but a blur beneath, nothing but a harness keeping you secure, its not a mystery why the zip line has become such a hit for thrill seekers. With a private beach providing a picturesque backdrop; the friendly and knowledgeable staff assisting clientele at every step makes the experience that much more enjoyable. Zip lining at the K-42 Pikin Parque de Altura is an exciting excursion for almost all ages, for the thrill seekers, and for those like me who normally prefer their feet on the ground.

Whether you are planning a day trip or an extended stay, Pikin Parque de Altura will fit your needs. The park boasts clean camping grounds with additional amenities such as a pool, tennis courts, a barbeque area, and a playground. Additional ocean-view Cabanas are being constructed atop the cliffs, which will offer comfortable sleeping accomodations and panoramic vistas. Beach front houses with a private beach for patrons are also available through Air BnB.

Just a stone’s throw from Las Gaviotas in Rosarito, the area is rife with surf spots. Furthermore, the park is a perfect location to stage day trips to Ensenada, Valle de Guadelupe, and Puerto Nuevo. Although great restaurants are ubiquitous throughout this region, Pikin Parque de Altura offers its own taste of Mexico at its eatery the K-42 Pub & Grill. The Lobster Special with Coconut Ceviche, and a classic New York Steak are just a couple of K-42 Pub & Grill’s surf and turf delicacies. Enjoy a cerveza, watch the sunset, listen to the excited scream of zip-liners – or the occasional live band – all from the park’s gem of a restaurant.

The park is well secured, the zip-lines are safe and fun and the facilities are new and immaculate. The staff is always smiling and looking to deliver a memorable experience for everyone. There are four zip-lines and one obstacle bridge included in the $25 tour- a great price for an activity steeped in adrenaline. Private events are available upon requests. With its great location, new accommodations, tasty restaurant, and its exhilarating zip-line, Pikin Parque is making and will no doubt continue making its mark as a tourist destination in Baja. If you are looking for a thrilling day trip, or a great place to stay for a weekend getaway, you wont want to miss Pikin Parque de Altura and the K-42 Pub & Grill.
