The Baja California State Tourism website is a great place to start to plan your trip to the northern region of Baja. Here you will find information regarding entering the country, travel and safety tips, a monthly events calendar, downloadable walking tour information, free downloadable maps of Tijuana, Rosarito, Ensenada, Mexicali and Tecate, and much more. They have a reviews of places to visit and/or camp like Guadalupe Hot Springs, Laguna Hanson, Valle de Guadalupe, San Pedro Mártir, and Rosarito Canyon including the best times of year to visit. Eco and adventure tourism is also discussed as are the cave painting destinations and Baja wine country.
Their website offers many informative online guides to help you no matter what type of trip you are taking to Baja: wine country route, rural route (includes national parks), gigantes route, fishing route, gastronomic route, missions route, eco-tourism and adventure route, hunting route, Bahía de los Angeles and Bahias de San Quintín guides. The Secretary of Tourism runs a program called "Outstanding Host" to recognize establishments that have passed a strict set of guidelines including but not limited to offering a quality product and responsible customer service. Those establishments are then rewarded with the "Outstanding Host" award. Look for this logo in participating establishments and patronize them with confidence.
